Don t let the end of summer get you down! There s plenty of fall fun ahead at Oak Lawn Park District! We will have fun, Halloween-themed open skates, golf outing, art projects, dance party, family events, and more. Check out all the fun at visit ww.olparks.com for more fun!
We re going to Scarecrow Fest in St. Charles on Friday, October 6! Scarecrow Weekend will feature 85+ handmade scarecrows that will be showcased around town for visitors to view and vote on their favorites. There will be a Family Zone with live entertainment and family fun as well as an Activity Zone with festive photo ops, Scarecrow-to-Go, and family activities. Fees include transportation by bus to the scarecrow fest. All meals are on your own. Feel free to pack your own lunch or enjoy one of the many restaurants in downtown St. Charles. Register by September 21. Just $40 per person!
StoryWalk, a free event presented in partnership with the Oak Lawn Public Library, transforms the pages of a children’s storybook into signs placed sequentially along the walking trail at Lake Shore Park. Afterwards, make a craft project related to the story! The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and Kellogg Hubbard Library. In case of inclement weather, StoryWalk will take place at the Dream Center at Lake Shore Park (9610 E Shore Dr.) on Monday, October 9 at 10:00 am.
For just $20 ($25 for non-residents), kids can carve your pumpkin while eating delicious treats at the Costumes, Pumpkin, Candy, Oh My! program at the Oak View Center & Museum (4625 W. 110th St.) We ll see you on Wednesday, October 11 and Thursday, October 12 from 6:00-7:30 pm! Spots are limited!
On Saturday, October 28 at Stony Creek Golf Course (5850 W. 103rd St.), take part in the annual Monster Jam Scramble. For $60 per player, you get 18 holes of golf with a cart, range balls, a drink ticket, lunch, and prizes. Get your team of four together and win! Sign-up at Stony Creek Golf Course by calling 7087-857-2433.
Our annual Howl-O-Ween event will take place this year on Saturday, October 21 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm at Wolfe Wildlife (109th & Laramie Ave.). Bring the whole family out for an afternoon of Halloween fun by walking the path at Wolfe Wildlife and encounter various games, activities, and performances. Just $8 per child!
The best day of the year is the annul Special Recreation Annual Halloween Hip-Hop Dance! The party happens on Friday, October 27 from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Oak View Center & Museum. Snacks and drinks will be served to keep the party going. Fee is just $10 per person (resident/Co-op) and $15 for non-residents.
Glow Skates are back at the Oak Lawn Ice Arena! The first skate is October 28 from 9:00-10:30 pm. Admission is $10 ($5 for skate rental).
Halloween Open Gym at the Racquet, Fitness & Gymnastics Center (10444 S. Central Ave.) is a great event where your family can dress up and do ghostbuster training, spooky kid-friendly activities, and lots of climbing, jumping, and swinging in the gymnastics gym. Each registered goblin will receive a goodie bag to take home. Advanced registration is required, please sign up early to guarantee availability. Event takes place pm Saturday, October 28 with timeslots starting at 3:00 pm.
Open Skate in your Halloween Costume at the Oak Lawn Ice Arena (9320 S. Kenton Ave.) on Sunday, October 29 from 1:00-2:30 pm. Cost is just $5 per person with a costume (additional $5 to rent skates) and you get to enjoy a DJ, treats, raffle prizes, and more! Admission is paid at the door.
